I am Estonian historian (PhD 2005) who has written extensively on a wide variety of topics and time-periods in Estonian, English, and German. My research interests stretch from social history to the Soviet university policy. My most recent research focuses on famines and family history in the nineteenth century. The major area of research has been, however, peasant emancipation in the Russian Baltic provinces. More than 50 publications include both micro- and macro-level studies. Most of the works are based on qualitative analysis of narrative sources but several others apply also quantitative methods (migration, prices, wages, etc.). I have authored and co-authored five books. I have been involved as a coordinator and as a principal invesigator in several international and national projects at the National Archives of Estonia and the University of Tartu.
